Interactive Underwear?
April 28th, 2008
Yes, I said underwear. A student at the University for Applied Arts, Industrial Design in Vienna, Austria has come up with a design concept that will improve the posture of avid computer users. The design is called Ergoskin and is comprised with “nano-sized, locational sensors woven into the fabric placed at critical points on the body”. If the sensors detect poor posture they will send impulses to the surface signaling the user to correct his or her posture.
While reading the article from talk2myshirt.com, I noticed how I was sitting at the computer and to put it this way, at that moment I would have been a perfect candidate for Ergoskin. Although over time posture can get worse, I don’t think I’ll be reaching for my Ergoskin underwear anytime soon. However, I do give credit to the designer for an interesting concept. Who knows, by 2020 it could be featured in The Sharper Image store.
